Closing The Gaps In Your Smile

Have space between your teeth that aren’t your favorite? We can help!

Gaps between teeth can happen in different parts of the mouth. Often, it evidences between the front two teeth–a very noticeable area of the mouth when smiling, talking, or eating.

Known in scientific terms as diastema, these teeth gaps are common, occurring in one out of every four Americans according to the American Dental Association (ADA). While this usually doesn’t affect the actual bite, it is very visible.

The good news is that here at Aspire Family Dentistry, we have multiple treatments to help you close that gap, including teeth bonding and the use of Invisalign® invisible braces.

Gap between your front teeth bothering you? For a while? We can help!

What Is Teeth Bonding?

Dental bonding, also known as teeth bonding, utilizes composite resin compounds that are specially designed to match your natural tooth color. Your Aspire Family Dentistry dentist will form and fit the resin in the space between the teeth to fill the void. The final result is very natural in feel and look.

Porcelain dental veneers are another option to fill the gap between two teeth. These are more durable than composite resin often used in teeth bonding, but both work in different situations.

Teeth Bonding Things To Know:

  • Personal habits matter. Smoking tobacco, drinking coffee or red wine, and other activities will leave composite resins used to fill gaps in teeth discolored. Tooth bonding resin is very porous and prone to staining.
  • Teeth bonding completed, oral hygiene is hugely critical. A strong whitening toothpaste will help keep regularly brushed teeth whiter and brighter.
  • Materials that are used to bond teeth together just are not as strong as natural teeth. This procedure treats the front teeth, fixing damage from chewing fingernails and other hard objects. The bonding material may chip.
  • Teeth bonding at Aspire Family Dentistry should last for years, and we’ll monitor it at regular six month dental health checkups.
  • Gap teeth can help lead to tooth decay by trapping food, which can lead to tooth pain and gum disease.

How Long Does Dental Bonding Take?

Most tooth bonding may be completed in a single visit. The first part of the process to ensure bonding materials includes matching the natural color of your teeth.

Then, the affected teeth are prepared and the bonding material is then applied. It’s a very moldable material, which means the dentist is able to sculpt it until it matches surrounding teeth in shape and color.

Dental tooth bonding to fill gaps in teeth is a procedure than can be very different given a specific situation. Some of our patients proudly wear their gap, or gaps, and it really does come down to the individual.
